TRC/WeTeach_CS Giving Page on DonorsChoose.org for Hurricane Harvey Relief

R14Science got this message from our Friends at the Texas Regional Collaboratives about how we can help students and teachers rebuild classrooms hit by Hurricane Harvey.  Here's the message from Carol Fletcher, Executive Director for the TRC, below:

Dear TRC Family,

A few short weeks ago, our nation witnessed a juxtaposition of both frightening devastation and inspiring compassion in the face of Hurricane Harvey. We saw neighbors helping neighbors, from first responders to the Cajun navy, the HEB armada, Mattress Mac and everyday citizens doing whatever they could to help their neighbors in need. We were all inspired and touched by the way our fellow Texans worked hand-in-hand to rescue over 3,500 citizens in the greater Houston area. As the communities affected by Harvey now begin the process of cleaning up and rebuilding, the sheer magnitude of the challenge is amazing. From Corpus Christi, to LaGrange, Port Arthur, and everywhere in between, hundreds of our TRC and WeTeach_CS colleagues and thousands of their students are now facing the challenge of returning to some sense of normalcy. Now it is our turn to help our TRC and WeTeach_CS family members do just that.

I know that many of the teachers in our TRC family are eager to support others who are in need and would like to participate in helping their colleagues get back on their feet in the classroom. In collaboration with DonorsChoose.org, the Center for STEM Education has established a special giving page to connect our TRC/WeTeach_CS teachers from across the state to their colleagues impacted by Harvey. By leveraging this network of amazing educators, we can help our colleagues get back on their feet and give back to their students the safety and security that their teachers and schools have always provided.  Please share this email with your TRC network and join me in making a contribution today. 100% of your contribution will go directly to helping TRC and WeTeach_CS teachers return to serving their students as quickly as possible. My husband and I have personally committed to make a donation to every TRC or WeTeach_CS teacher who posts a project and needs our help.

You can find the TRC & WeTeach_CS Family Harvey Relief Page at https://www.donorschoose.org/TRC. I hope you will join our TRC/WeTeach_CS family in choosing a project to support, with a donation of any size!
