Texas STEM Connections connects classroom to STEM Professionals

If your classroom or organization has a need for a STEM volunteer or mentor (or a team of them!), enter your request into Texas STEM Connections. Find instructions for how to enter a request for a volunteer here.

Texas STEM Connections is a web-based tool that makes it easy for STEM professionals to connect with K-20 educators, classrooms, out of school time programs, and other volunteer opportunities. Professionals can share their skills and expertise to bring real-world, authentic learning opportunities to all our students helping to create the next generation of innovators. Through in-person matches and virtual sessions, professionals can help educators and program providers connect their students to the world of STEM.

National Youth Science Camp Applications Now Available

Two talented graduating seniors will be selected to represent Texas at the 2018 National Youth Science Camp (NYSC).  Student delegates attend the STEM and outdoor adventure program, at no charge. Travel is included. The students also spend several days in Washington, DC. Applications are currently open. Applications will close on February 28, 2018 at 6:00pm EST. The dates of NYSC are planned for June 27 - July 21, 2018. Only students who can attend the entire session should plan to apply. Additional information is available at  http://apply.nysc.org .

Students who show #collegiance could win #$$$

#Collegiance celebrates high school students making their college decision by encouraging them to pledge their #Collegiance on Instagram. Those who create an original and creative Instagram video, Boomerang, or photo will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 cash prizes. The winners will be selected by media and film professors from College Board member institutions.  You can find more information about the competition here:  https://pages.collegeboard. org/collegiance  and there is also a  digital toolkit   for schools to help spread the word to students.  Student submissions are due on May 15, 2018.
