Looking for Streamline TEKS for 2017-2018?


The Texas Education Agency reminded science educators this week of where the new streamlined TEKS can be found, during its monthly science communications message. It stated:
"The adopted amendments to streamline the Science TEKS have been posted on the TEA website under the heading Adopted State Board of Education Rules-Not Yet Effective under adopted State Board of Education rules.The streamlined science TEKS are also available on the TEA website until their scheduled effective date, August 27, 2018 under Science TEKS Streamlining. Once effective, the TEKS will be incorporated in the Texas Administrative Code with “Adopted 2017” in their title.Please note that the streamlined TEKS will not be implemented until the 2018-2019 school year. The required TEKS for the current school year can be found in 19 TAC Chapter 112."

The R14Science Website has a Side-bySide Tool developed to let you compare the old TEKS to the new. Select Standards, and then choose "View 2010 and 2018 TEKS Side-by-Side"

National Youth Science Camp Applications Now Available

Two talented graduating seniors will be selected to represent Texas at the 2018 National Youth Science Camp (NYSC).  Student delegates attend the STEM and outdoor adventure program, at no charge. Travel is included. The students also spend several days in Washington, DC. Applications are currently open. Applications will close on February 28, 2018 at 6:00pm EST. Students who show #collegiance could win #$$$

#Collegiance celebrates high school students making their college decision by encouraging them to pledge their #Collegiance on Instagram. Those who create an original and creative Instagram video, Boomerang, or photo will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 cash prizes.
